Proper grooving of the concrete is essential to prevent cattle from falling. A rough broom finish wears out too quickly and is not recommended for any species (other than humans). One area where deep grooved concrete is especially important is the exit area from the squeeze chute (as shown in this picture). Many cattle have a tendency to jump then run when released from the squeeze chute (crush).
